| Today's date is February 6th, and this studio project is beginning to get on my nerves. I'm itching to start CREATING SCULPTURE again! I've split this journal to another page in consideration of my modem-impaired fans. You can visit earlier construction pictures and read previous rantings on the following pages:

It's actually feeling like this thing might get finished before Spring! A few days back, we passed the one-month mark of having this building on the property, but you all have to remember, we STARTED this project in June of 2002 with manually clearing the land, taking down old sheds, and building a new pump house for our well. Fatigue is setting in.
I've decided the dates just don't matter anymore! I'll keep using them but in a willy-nilly way. Misty and I got the door track up for the 14' x 14' door over the course of a few days. The instructions for this process were crap, not that the manufacturer cares. It went up in sections, but the first piece up weighed around 250 pounds, not exactly easy to handle 14' up in the air.

We discovered that the engineered drawings we got for the building were wrong. It's all fairly hilarious though. The Engineered blueprints that we paid $300 extra for say "don't use these measurements, use the ones in the manual" and the Manual says, "don't use these measurements, use the ones supplied by an engineer." Anyway, I had to get a 14' section of the concrete foundation cut and chipped out yesterday. On the positive side, the company who sold me the building said they'd pay for HALF of that cost. Better than a kick in the butt, eh? |
| THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2003 Days pass. . . blood flows. Yes, it's true, after a MONTHS of hard work on this project, James is injured. I'm just happy it was ME and no one that's helped over all this time got hurt. In an effort to save my poor finger from typing, Here are a few more pictures of the studio progression and one showing the nail that went all the way through my finger. (Ironic, isn't it? Constructing a HUGE bolt-together building with 6,000 bolts and I get a nail in my finger.) |

![]() The Actual nail that went THROUGH my finger. Yep, in one side, out the other. The actually circumstances surround HOW that happened are classified, but let's just say, it did not involve a hammer, nail gun, or rock. . . It was just my finger and a nail locked in mortal combat! |
